As part of the World Biogas Expo, WBA will present its world first #MakingBiogasHappen (MBH) programme.

WBA is inviting AD and biogas professionals to participate in this exciting project and engage with them at the Expo.

In the Expo’s Engine Room Theatre, Dr Sarika Jain and Flávio Ascenco will lay out WBA’s radical programme, currently in development, to cut years from the normal time it takes to develop the necessary policies, regulations and standards needed to support any industry.

And they will be inviting biogas sector experts to engage with WBA in the development of MBH’s two flagship projects: the Global Biogas Regulatory Framework and the International Anaerobic Digestion Certification Scheme (ADCS International).

Join Sarika and Flávio on Wednesday, 10 July from 16:15 in the Engine Room Theatre to learn more about the MBH programme along with opportunities to contribute to MBH projects in development.

Stakeholder workshops are currently being scheduled for September 2024. Meanwhile, WBA is engaging national associations, developers, operators, financiers and other stakeholders to gather insights on drivers and barriers for the industry.

If you would like to participate in the consultation process, please complete the form below. Or contact the MBH Team directly at MBH.contact@worldbiogasassociation.org.

The Global Biogas Regulatory Framework

The Global Biogas Regulatory Framework consists of all the necessary policies, regulations and standards the industry needs, thus facilitating the rapid development of projects able to secure funding. WBA is currently collating the best and most effective of these from around the world, with changes to reflect experience, into a set of standardised templates which countries can then adapt to their specific circumstances.

The International Anaerobic Digestion Certification Scheme

The first global certification scheme specifically for biogas, International Anaerobic Digestion Certification Scheme (ADCS International) sets out the minimum standards necessary to ensure every plant is designed, built and operated well.

16:15 – 16:25 #MakingBiogasHappen: Ambitions and Programme

Dr Sarika Jain, Policy Lead, WBA

Flávio Ascenco, Technical Support Manager, ADBA & WBA

WBA’s mission is to grow the biogas sector as a renewable energy alternative to fossil fuels — while decarbonising hard-to-decarbonise sectors such as transport and heat. In line with this, WBA launched “Making Biogas Happen,” a programme for governments and industry to rapidly scale-up of biogas. Come to this session to hear first hand how the association envisions the world building hundreds of thousands of biogas plants, cutting emissions and delivering on the Global Methane Pledge.
