Bio: Dr Lyons has worked for the Agri-Food & Biosciences Institute (AFBI) since 1990 in a number of research roles. He leads a team working on anaerobic digestion of farm slurries and crops for renewable energy production utilising the farm scale AD Plant at the Hillsborough research farm. He set up the AFBI farm Nutrient Management Centre in 2019 to continue work on the valorisation of farm slurries and digestates and to develop a knowledge base on relevant technologies. He is currently involved in research projects on reduction of both gaseous and terrestrial emissions from digestate management and manure/digestate valorisation. He has been involved in collaborative projects with industry and academic institutions from the UK, Ireland and Europe.
